Company History

AC Yule has a long established history from 1946 to the present day. Some of the key events in our history are described below.

1946 1946
Glass Processing, bevelling and mirror manufacturing business started by Alexander Yule in premises in Ferry Road, Old Torry near Aberdeen Harbour.
1952 1952
Business moved to premises in Union Glen, Aberdeen.
1960 1960
Business moved to premises in Justice Mill Lane, Aberdeen and started developing sealed units.
1967 1967
Craigshaw Road Factory was established on West Tullos Industrial Estate in Aberdeen. The Justice Mill Lane operation was retained as a city centre showroom with a small glass cutting/processing and specialist workshop. A Branch Office was established in Elgin.
1969 1969
Establish manufacturing of aluminium windows, shopfront, curtain walling and doors.
1976 1976
New factory at Elgin established.
1982 1982
Additional Factory premises acquired at West Tullos to manufacture PVCu windows and doors.
1986 1986
Small factory unit opened for aluminium products.
1987 1987
Aluminium Products Division move to larger premises in Craigshaw Road.
1988 1988
Invest in only second glass toughening plant in Scotland.
1989 1989
PVCu and Joinery Products Division related to larger factory with three times manufacturing space. A specialist Conservatory Unit created in the new factory.
1990 1990
Establish operating base in Central Belt of Scotland.
1991 1991
All manufacturing processes and accounting systems computerised.
1992 1992
Showroom was refurbished to become the All Product Showroom. New building acquired in Craigshaw Road increasing office accommodation for Head Office.
1994 1994
Manufacturing for both Central Belt and Aberdeen, consolidated in Aberdeen and the Transport Fleet was upgraded for support. Glasgow manufacturing base was then closed, leaving Sales Team and Glazing Team in place.
1995 1995
Restructure in June of Aberdeen Divisions to form two main divisions, Glass and Glazing and Window and Door supported by the All Product Showroom.
1996 1996
Develop and launch Tempaflam Fire Resistant Glass.
1997 1997
Architectural Aluminium business, Sealrite in Falkirk, acquired to establish base for Central Belt of Scotland (now fully integrated as A C Yule).
1998 1998
Decision made to withdraw from Domestic Installation Market to focus on supply of products to trade and commercial contracting markets.
1998/99 1998/99
Anderson Glass in Livingston acquired to give Central Belt facility in glass processing. Further investment in second glass toughening plant and sealed unit line.
2000 2000
Architectural Aluminium operation opened in Sunderland to focus on North East of England.
2001 2001
Acquired Tayside Windows in Forfar to further enhance PVC window manufacturing capabilities.
2002 2002
Aquired the business and customer base of Fullex Architectural Aluminium, based in Clydebank, Glasgow.
2003 2003
Purchased new state of the art CNC machines for the Glass and Aluminium Fabrication plants in Aberdeen.
2004 2004
Appointed a Royal Warrant Holder for the supply of glass products and services to Her Majesty, the Queen.
2004 2004
Invested in new HELGA cutting table with automatic loading system for the Glass plant, Aberdeen.
2005 2005
Invested in new LISEC KSR arrising machine for the Glass plant, Aberdeen.
2007 2007
New state of the art ?Keepheat? Warm Edge Technology fully automated igu lines installed at both Glass, Aberdeen and Livingston.
2007 2007
State of the art TempaCLAD ceramic painted glass line installed at Glass, Livingston.

Introduction of Internal Partition system.

Introduction of a new Timber Window and Doors range.
2008 2008
A new small works aluminium section based at Forfar opened.
