Over summer 2009 AC Yule's marketing assistant Kristin Gunn took part in the TV programme Britain’s Best Dish on ITV. She attended the auditions in Glasgow before being asked to cook on the show. Kristin appeared on the first round of Scottish rounds before getting chosen to cook in the Scottish finals. After winning the Scottish finals, and therefore having Scotland's best pudding, she went on to the regional round. Unfortunately after cooking against 6 other regional finalists Kristin was knocked out of the competition.
The filming of the competition took place in London at the Pinewood Studios at Teddington and Hackney Catering College. The rounds were judged by celebrity judges Ed Baines, Jilly Goolden, and Michelin starred chef John Burton Race.
The dish that got Kristin this far in the competition was a trio of Scottish profiteroles, one filled with crannachan, one with tablet and one with orange Athol brose. Kristin has been making profiteroles since she was thirteen however she thought that they needed updating for the competition. After a brainstorming session with a friend the idea of the trio of Scottish profiteroles was born.
Kristin says "It was a fantastic experience being on the show and family and friends are still requesting the profiteroles"
