Our Boldon business unit have recently completed the refurbishment of the Edinburgh building at Sunderland
University, which involved a strip and recover of the full external envelope of the building and was carried out by an external envelope partnership between AC Yule (North East England) and MDK Roofing & Cladding (Bishop Auckland).
Our Boldon business unit have recently completed the refurbishment of the Edinburgh building at Sunderland University, which involved a strip and recover of the full external envelope of the building and was carried out by an external envelope partnership between AC Yule (North East England) and MDK Roofing & Cladding (Bishop Auckland). Between AC Yule and MDK Roofing & Cladding we were able to price, design, and install the complete building fabric consisting of roof covering, wall cladding and all related glazing works.
Working as a composite partnership we joined forces with MDK Roofing & Cladding to address the design interface details and programme along with the main contractor at an
early stage, thus resolving any issues and reducing risk for the main contractor.
Throughout the design process, our two companies were interlocked with detailed information passing back and forth via email thus giving continuity to the design team and reducing the overall design time.
A mutual contract programme was prepared, requiring both on and off site interfaces and planning to ensure the correct materials arrived on site on the correct date as stated. This contract highlighted the success of the Envelope partnership between the two companies and the result being the client is
overjoyed with the appearance of the building and is suggesting further works in the near future.
