Low-E Glass is ordinary float glass with a microscopically thin metalic coating on one of its surfaces. This coating improves the thermal performance of glass, making it the ideal choice to minimise heat loss and maximise comfort in the home.
The basic principle of these coatings is to reduce heat emission from one side. This means that the coating acts as a heat mirror trapping long wave radiation inside the building.
Low-E Glass benefits include:
Low-E Glass can be used in any domestic or commercial application where energy efficiency is required. When used with other solar control glasses Low-E Glass can greatly assist to improve the thermal performance of the window. When used in a double glazing unit, the low E-coating is normally on the room side of the pane with the coated surface facing into the cavity of the sealed unit. Therefore heat loss is considerably reduced - saving on fuel costs.
Low-E Glass looks exactly like ordinary glass letting the same amount of light into a building but less energy out. It is a truly energy efficient version of doulbe glazing which adds little to the cost of installing windows.
Low-E Glass is available from stock as 4/6mm double glazed units.
