AC Yule Livingston Celebrates 10th Anniversary
21 August 2009
The Livingston branch of AC Yule's glass division has just celebrated its 10th anniversary at the current site, having been officially opened on 3rd June 1999 by Gavin Hastings OBE. At this time, an open day was held for all our customers to show them our new factory and investment in equipment. The day was great success for everyone. Initially, the business of Anderson Glass was taken over in 1997. The Livingston Branch was created from this business, an 8,000 square foot factory at Maxwell Square on Brucefield Industrial Estate, Livingston. In April 1999, larger premises (30,000 square foot) were acquired on the same industrial estate, the idea being to replicate the facilities at the Aberdeen Glass factory. A substantial £1.5 million investment programme was undertaken at this time and a host of new equipment purchased, including cutting equipment, a new double glazing line and a glass tempering line. Since then, further investment has been made, and the branch now boasts a state-of-the-art ceramic paint line, automated fire glass saw, as well as continuing with upgrading and renewing of cutting facilities and double glazing equipment.
The Livingston Branch has gone from strength to strength over the time of its existence and a key ingredient in this success has been the hard work and loyalty of all staff involved focusing on serving their customers.
Currently Livingston offer a range of high performance keepheat insulated sealed units along with 8-19mm toughened glass and a range of insulated and non insulated fire resistant glazing products.
Commenting on the celebration of 10 years, divisional manager Steve Bain stated "It's hard to believe its 10 years since we moved the operation from the old premises in the same industrial estate to our current right here at the industrial estate. During the past 10 years we have seen significant change in the introduction of changes to the building regs for Scotland along with the amendments to document L for England and Wales. We will throughout this period continue investment in the most modern equipment to keep ourselves at the forefront of technology and be able to offer a range of products to suit our trade and commercial customers."
