The KeepHEAT range
AC Yule have launched the KeepHEAT range of sealed units providing a range of glasses that will aid compliance with the new Documen L /Part J Legislation.
KeepHEAT+ is a unit incorporating a hard coated Low-E Glass. Low E glass is ordinary float glass with a microscopically thin metallic coating deposited on one of it's surfaces. This coating improves the thermal performance of glass when used in windows. "Low-E" stands for "low emmissivity", and the basic principle of these coatings are to reduce heat emission from the room side. This means that the coating acts as a heat mirror, trapping long wave radiation inside the building. The coating however, allows the sun's heat, in the form of short wave radiation to pass into the building unrestricted. When used in a double glazing unit, the Low-E coating is normally on the room side pane with the coated surface facing into the cavity of the sealed unit. Therefore heat loss is considerably reduced - saving on fuel costs.
KeepHeat+ will provide a u-value of 1.7 if air filled and 1.5 if argon filled.
KeepHEAT super+ is a unit incorporating a soft coated low E glass. A soft coated low E glass provides a better thermal performance than a hard coat. KeepHEAT super+ provides a unit u-value of 1.5 when air filled and 1.3 when argon filled.
Aimed at the Commercial market a further addition to the KeepHEAT range is KeepHEAT bodytint. This range of glasses incorporates body tinted and reflective glasses with solar control, providing units with u-values as low as 1.1.
